My music
Here you can check out some of the bands I've played with
I have been a bass player since I was 10 years old. And over the years I've played and toured with a lost of different bands. Here you can download some examples of what I have been doing.
My Bass
I have had tons of instrument and amplifiers over the years. I don't even remember everything. But off the stuff I remember is my '63 Fender Precision bass that I used to have. I sold it over 15 years ago and I still am sorry I did. I think that was one of the best basses I've ever played.
Right now I have a Warwick Thumb five-string bass. I'm very happy with this bass. I bought it as fretted bass, but because I mainle used to play fretless basses I took out the frets and threated the neck with 20 thin layer of epoxy. I have done this on many of the basses I've own and it always works out very nice. I used to have a Warwick four-string fretless before I bought the five-string. The reason I did not buy the five-string as a fretless in the first place was that the fretless basses I tried did not feel as good as the one I ended up buying. And I also have an old MusicMan four-string fretless bass that I play on from time to time.
My Amp
My amp is a rack with a Trace Elliot GP11 preamp and a Peavey 2x200 watts power amp. Also in the rack I have a DBX compressor. The power from this goes to a Peavey cabinet with 4x10inch speakers. I have used a JBL 15" speaker together with the 4x10. But lately I have just used the 4x10. I actually run the cabinet as two 2x10 cabinets. Each "side" is feed by one side of the power amp. This is an old setup, but I have yet to hear another amp that suites me better so until that happens I'll keep it.

The Stand

The Stand where a band I used to play in the late '80. We played a lot
of selfwritten music together with music made by artists we liked at
the time.
The Stand where:
Hans Nyberg: Vocals
Vidar Kolberg: Drums
Dag Rune Johansen: Guitar
Dag Stemre: Guitar
Frank Almås: Bass
The Stand - Don't Look Back
The Stand - Greater Love
The Stand - I Love You So
The Stand - No. 1
The Stand - Show Off
The Bluesbusters !

It's not a band. It's a state of mind!
This is the band I've played with the longest. We have had several
line-up's from the original trio with myself, Jan Erik and Vidar to the
latest crew which is: Myself on basses, Jan Erik (BIG) Moe on guitars,
Tore Tellnes on keyboards, Vidar Kolberg on drums and Kjell Inge (Jolly
Jumper) Brovoll on vocals and harmonica.
Over the years we have also toured with several american artists like
vocalist Earl Thomas which is present on some of the tunes on this
page.
We have had our fights and we have had our good times, but I think
touring with these guys has been the baddest, most fun, strangest,
vicious, weirdest and the most xxx-rated times of my life. Just listen
to the audience parcipitation on our version of Rolling Stones "Honky
Tonk Women" from the Shining Hotel in a very remote part off Norway. It
is one of the audience who has the lead vocal. And the "Shining Hotel"
itself is like a cross between the movie with Jack Nicholsen,
Deliverence and "Twin Peaks".
Another highlite is the "Finnmark-tour"!!!! Cleaning out the
furniture:-))

Arken
Kind of weird jazz-band that played original material only.
One of the most fun band I've ever played with, but I could never
understand that people managed to understand what we where doin'. The
recordings on the site is made a while after the maniac periode, but I
could not find any good recordings.
Arken was Bernt Gausen-guitars, Gisle Aarlott-guitars, Vidar
Kolberg-drums, Tore Strømstad-saxophone and myself on bass.
The following songs however, where recorded by Bernt, Vidar and me.
